Timothy E.L. Douglas is a lecturer at the Engineering Department and Material Science Institute (MSI) at Lancaster University, United Kingdom. His research group specializes in the development of biomaterials for biomedical applications.
Having worked in several European countries, he is passionate about international cooperation and has extensive collaborations with several Russian universities and research institutes, including Saratov State University, Tomsk Polytechnic University and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk. He regularly hosts visiting researchers from different countries including many from Russia. He believes in the value of multilingualism in initiating and enhancing international scientific collaboration and speaks several languages, including Russian.
He has won three Researcher Links grants from the British Council and has held four UK-Russia events on biomaterials-related topics in Lancaster since 2018; further events are planned. He also organized an online UK-Poland conference on Bioinspired Materials in November 2020.
