Professor Terrence Fernando is the Director of the THINKlab (www.thinklab.salford.ac.uk
) which is an interdisciplinary research centre focusing on developing technology solutions for the global challenges faced by society, industry, and government organisations. He has extensive experience in leading European research teams for producing innovative solutions for industry sectors such as aerospace, space, automotive and built environment. Some examples of his European projects includes Design4Energy, PROSECO and CROSS DRIVE which focused on developing collaboration platforms for creating energy-efficient neighbourhoods, eco products and space mission planning for Mars.
Recently, he received funding from the Global Challenges Research Funds (GCRF), to work with research teams and government organisations in Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Malaysia to develop digital solutions that can support multi-agency collaboration in building resilient against climate-induced disasters such as floods, landslides and drought.
