Sergey Illarioshkin
Graduated from 1st Moscow Medical Institute in 1986. Residency and Postgraduate studies in Neurology at the Research Center of Neurology, Moscow (Russia). Research Training on Molecular Neurogenetics at the Niigata University Brain Research Institute (Japan, 1995-96) and the INSERM U289 (Paris, 1998-99).

Area of expertise: clinical and molecular neurogenetics, neurodegenerative diseases, movement disorders. Research interests are focused on pathogenesis, risk factors and genetic mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and movement disorders, new methods of their diagnostics, treatment and prevention, experimental models of neurodegeneration.

Supervisor of more than 30 PhD theses. Awarder of the AAN Foreign Scholarship Award (1997), the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Award for fundamental studies (1999) and the Russian Federation State Government Award for Achievements in Science and Technology (2006).
