Professor Nigel Mongan was awarded his PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK. He completed postdoctoral training at the University of Cambridge and Weill Cornell Medicine, NY, USA where he secured a competitive fellowship from the American Association for Cancer Research. In 2010 he relocated to the University of Nottingham, UK securing a permanent appointment as Associate Professor of Cancer Biology. He became the Sub-Dean for Research in 2016 and in 2018 was promoted to Professor of Oncology and now leads the Division of Biomedical Science.
In 2018 he became the Director of global engagement for research for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. In these roles he works closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues in multi-disciplinary consortia to address fundamental mechanisms of gene regulation in cancer. He has retained an adjunct faculty appointment at Weill Cornell Medicine where he continues to contribute to the pharmacology research and educational program.
