Professor David Law retired from full-time employment in 2012 after 40 years in university employment. In 2020 he returned to a new role at Keele University where he spent the first half of his career initially in the Department of Russian Studies. During his retirement, as well as growing vegetables, he set up a consultancy company and edited the journal, Perspectives: Policy and Practice in Higher Education. He also became a Confucius Institute Director, for a couple of years, and is currently Chair of the International HE Network run by the Association of University Administrators.

During his career, David has been an Academic Registrar (University of Hull), an International Director (University of Warwick), and a Pro Vice-Chancellor (Edge Hill University). He is now Academic Director: Global Partnerships at Keele University.
