Benjamin Boyes
Ben is a glacial geomorphologist currently researching Late Weichselian (c. 40-10 ka) Fennoscandian Ice Sheet glaciation in northwest Arctic Russia as part of his PhD research project. This research combines digital mapping of glacial landforms using high-resolution remotely-sensed imagery with field mapping (which is conducted in collaboration with scientists based at the Kola Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences). This research provides much needed information on the dynamics of ice sheets and how they respond to climatic change. Ben is also Head of UK-Russia ECR Collaborations at the UK Polar Network, and has been involved in collaborations with APECS Russia for three years on projects includes ARCTIS 2019 and 2020, and ASPP 2021.
