Dr Araida Hidalgo graduated from BEng Biotechnology and joined Schering Plough to gain experience in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance and Clinical Studies. Following this, she worked as business manager for nutrition in Alltech Inc before pursuing a PhD in Tissue Engineering at the University of Nottingham, UK.
Dr Hidalgo held postdoctoral positions at Keele University and the University of Manchester, before joining Manchester Metropolitan University, where she is currently Senior Lecturer, Programme Leader for the MBioMedSc course, and the International Lead for Life Sciences.
Dr Hidalgo's research focuses on stem cells, antimicrobial biomaterials, ECM hydrogels, 3D printed scaffolds, bioreactors, and non-invasive imaging for regenerative medicine for cardiovascular and orthopaedic applications, and is strengthen by many international collaborations. Her research and educational work has been funded by the British Council, Newton Funds, InnovateUK, EPSRC, BBSRC, STFC, Erasmus and CONACyT.
