Alastair S Macdonald
Professor Alastair Macdonald is Senior Researcher in the School of Design at the Glasgow School of Art. A designer by training, he has worked extensively as a design researcher within interdisciplinary teams to co-develop and evaluate healthcare interventions.
In 2004, he received a Japan Foundation Research Fellowship to study accessible design and technology for the ageing population in Japan, and in 2017 he was named as a Key Change Maker and Thought Leader in the British Council's Design for Disability and an Ageing Society: a review of the state of play in the UK.
He was the winner of the Best Research category in the inaugural 2018 Arts and Humanities Research Council / Wellcome Health Humanities Awards for his work on infection prevention and control training material to help address AMR.
