Dr Sian Davies-Vollum is a geoscientist with broad experience in sustainability-related teaching and research. She has a BA (Hons) Geology, from University of Oxford and an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London. Her DPhil, from University of Oxford, focused on climate and environmental recovery after the End-Cretaceous extinction event.
Following a post-doc at the Smithsonian Institution, she spent time as an academic in the USA and UK, developing and leading courses in environmental geoscience that integrated her research with teaching.
She is the Executive Secretary of Universities Geoscience UK and is chairing a review of the QAA benchmark statement that underpins Earth and Environmental Science/Studies degrees in the UK. Her current research focuses on the sustainability of coastal environments and communities, with an emphasis on the global south.
