Paul's research focuses on policy and economics for climate change mitigation, energy, and innovation. Paul is currently co-ordinating (with Professor Paul Ekins) the EU Horizon 2020 Project INNOPATHS, which examines the economic, technical and social options and implications for decarbonisation in Europe. He is also a Senior Researcher on the Economics of Energy Innovation and System Transition (EEIST) project, which aims to transform decision-making processes for decarbonisation to account for the dynamics of innovation and transition.
Recently concluded research includes an examination of the drivers for success in the UK's offshore wind industry, and a systematic review of the evidence of the impact 'demand-pull' drivers for innovation in energy technologies.
Paul is also Co-lead for Finance & Economics for the 'Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change'
