Dr Monique L Mackenzie is the Assistant Vice Principal (Provost) and Head of St Leonard's Postgraduate College at the University of St Andrews. As the Provost, Dr Mackenzie works to champion the development of postgraduate education and research.
Dr Mackenzie is a statistician who develops methods and software for data collected over space and time. Her work focuses on identifying spatially explicit change in complex natural systems and primarily finds application in the marine renewables sector as part of environmental impact assessments. Dr Mackenzie is actively involved in several funded African conservation projects, including a recent grant from the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and Microsoft AI for Earth.
Monique is from a widening participation background and was the first in her family to attend University. In her spare time, she volunteers on the Children's Panel in Scotland helping young people facing difficulties.
