Igor Makarov was a visiting scholar at Stanford University (2011) and Harvard University (2016 and 2019), taught at the University of Tehran (2016) and Autonomous University of Madrid (2017).
His research interests cover international political economy, globalization, Asia-Russia relations, environmental and climate change economics. He is a leading author and an editor of the monograph Russia's Turn to the East: Development of Siberia and Far East under the Conditions of Strengthening Asian Vector in Russian Foreign Policy
He is also an author of more than 50 academic papers and numerous columns for Russian business newspapers. Academic papers, reports, columns and interviews of Mr. Makarov have been published in Russia, U.S., Canada, U.K., Austria, Italy, France, Singapore, China, South Korea, India, Iran and South Africa.
